WHAT IS POLYVAGAL GUIDED APPROACH?
The PolyVagal Theory explains us that we have three ways to react to stress: ventral vagal (we are confident and we stay connected), sympathetic (we are boosted by adrenaline among other things to fight or flee), dorsal vagal (we are immobilized, we collapse). In stressful situations, by taking the time to observe this stress, we can learn and then decide on the response to bring in, with certain tools (e.g.: cardiac coherence, list of resources, grounding elements). Balance is established when we can alternate these three states in a fluid manner and in a more equal quantity.

The Polyvagal Theory applied to therapy allows therapists to better understand the role of the autonomic nervous system in how the patient experiences safety during a session and to adjust as best as possible to create a secure relationship.

Integrating polyvagal theory into therapy accompaniment allows to:

* better understand how the patient experiences safety during a session and adjust as best as possible for a secure relationship

* go to the source of what generates difficulty, suffering and stress

* provide tools that will enable the patient to understand their states on an embodied level

* provide tools that will allow the patient to alternate these three states in a fluid and nearly equal manner.
